The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, N. Chandrababu Naidu, has appealed to bankers to lend their support to the government’s endeavors.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has placed a strong emphasis on the crucial role of the banking sector in realizing the state’s ambitious “Swarna Andhra Vision-2047,” a comprehensive development plan aimed at achieving a 15% growth rate by the year 2047. Addressing the State Level Bankers Committee (SLBC) meeting at the Secretariat on Monday, the Chief Minister articulated his vision for a collaborative partnership between the government and banks, urging bankers to proactively support key sectors identified as vital for achieving this growth trajectory. He underscored the interconnectedness of financial support and economic progress, particularly within the primary sector, emphasizing that the attainment of the 15% growth target hinges significantly on the active participation and strategic lending practices of banking institutions. Naidu’s address served as a call to action, urging bankers to align their lending priorities with the state’s developmental goals and to become active partners in driving economic transformation. He stressed that the government recognizes the banking sector as a critical enabler of growth and is committed to fostering an environment conducive to investment and economic expansion.

Recognizing the dynamic nature of agriculture and the evolving preferences of farmers, Chief Minister Naidu suggested that bankers should adapt their lending strategies to reflect these changing realities. He highlighted the increasing trend of farmers transitioning from traditional agriculture to horticulture, driven by shifts in lifestyles and food consumption patterns. Naidu emphasized the need for banks to provide extensive loan support to horticulture farmers, acknowledging the sector’s growing importance in the state’s economy. He also stressed the significance of supporting farmers cultivating commercial crops, recognizing their contribution to economic empowerment and overall agricultural growth. The Chief Minister expressed confidence in the significant growth potential of agriculture and allied sectors in Andhra Pradesh, but emphasized that realizing this potential requires targeted financial interventions and a proactive approach from the banking sector. He urged bankers to view these evolving agricultural trends not as challenges but as opportunities for strategic investment and impactful lending. By adapting to these changes and providing tailored financial products, banks can play a pivotal role in empowering farmers and driving agricultural prosperity.

In addition to agriculture, Chief Minister Naidu highlighted the critical importance of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in achieving the state’s economic vision. He acknowledged the Central government’s efforts in simplifying loan processes for MSMEs and urged banks to take a more proactive stance in supporting these enterprises. Naidu emphasized the vital role of MSMEs in creating employment opportunities, fostering innovation, and driving economic diversification. He also linked MSME development to the state’s “One Family, One Entrepreneur” goal, highlighting the government’s commitment to promoting entrepreneurship at the grassroots level. The Chief Minister believes that a thriving MSME sector is essential for achieving inclusive growth and creating a more balanced and resilient economy. He urged bankers to not only provide financial assistance but also offer mentorship and guidance to MSMEs, helping them to scale their operations and contribute effectively to the state’s economic progress.

Furthermore, Chief Minister Naidu addressed the challenges posed by the previous YSRCP government’s “destructive governance,” stating that efforts are underway to rebuild the state’s systems and restore investor confidence. He acknowledged the impact of past policies on various sectors and emphasized the government’s commitment to creating a more stable and predictable business environment. Naidu also requested the cooperation of bankers in investigations into alleged irregularities that occurred during the previous administration, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in governance. He assured the banking community that the government is committed to restoring normalcy and creating a level playing field for businesses to thrive. The Chief Minister’s address underscored his government’s focus on rebuilding trust, fostering collaboration, and creating a conducive environment for sustainable economic growth, with the banking sector playing a crucial role in this transformative journey
